The trials to select Kenya’s under-19 squad for this month’s ICC Africa Under-19 World Cup Qualifiers will be done on Saturday 11th May 2013 at Sir Ali Muslim Club from 9am.
The Regional Qualifiers that will bring together eight teams from the continent are scheduled to be held between 24 and 31st May in Kampala, Uganda. The teams to compete for the one available slot for Africa, will include; hosts Uganda, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Zambia and defending champions Namibia.
The selection committee, headed by former Kenya wicketkeeper Tariq Iqbal, will supervise the trials in the presence of coach, Joseph Angara.
As many as 30 players who have been training in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru are expected to feature in the trials, from which the selectors will shortlist a squad for the regional tourney where the winner will book a place to the global qualifiers due in February 2014.
The players who have been training for close to two months despite the heavy rains in the country were selected from various competitions held in the country in the past one year.
