Kenya Ladies XI beat Goan Institute by nine wickets

Kenya Ladies XI opened up the NPCA 50 over tournament with a whooping nine wickets win over Goan Institute at the Ruaraka Sports Club yesterday.

The team which comprised majority of the players who took part in last year's senior women Twenty 20 world cup qualifiers in Tanzania put on great bowling show that lacked in the qualifiers bowling out the visitors for 30 runs in 13 overs. 

Mercyline Adhiambo continued from where she had left at last year by emerging the thorn in the flesh for Goan with five wicket. 

Adhiambo who was voted women player of the year for 2011/2012 conceded only 10 runs in her seven overs as her bowling proved difficult for their bitter rivals to handle. 

Mary Belle and Ruth Mwihaki picked up two wickets each for 2 and 16 runs respectively.

The Ladies batters had an easy time in their chase a they only lost Sharon Juma who was bowed for five runs. Pearlyne Omamo and Margaret Banja remained unbeaten on two and eight respectively.
