New Zealand knocks Kenya U19s out of main cup title

New Zealand ensured progression to the quarter-finals of the ongoing ICC U19 Cricket World Cup with a 243 run win over Kenya at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Kenya were made to rue their decision to bowl first, as New Zealand piled on runs to finally finish at 436 for the loss of four wickets. Jakob Bhula made 180 from 144 deliveries and Ravindra made 117 off 101 balls while batting at No.3, Finn Allen hit 90 off just 40 balls.

Kenya never went for the target and played out the 50 overs to finish with 193 for four. Opener Aman Gandhi scored 63 off 106 deliveries while Thomas Ochieng made an unbeaten 39 off 47. New Zealand were able to take only four Kenyan wickets.

Kenya next play the defending champions West Indie on Saturday in a match at Lincoln 3 ground in Christchurch.
