Cricket Kenya Chairperson Jackie Jonmohammed launches U19 Worldcup Qualifiers Tournament

Kenya will battle it out with Ghana, Uganda and Botswana for a slot in next year's ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup to be held in New Zealand. 

While officially announcing the commencement of the tournament which kicks off on 1st July in Nairobi, during a media briefing, Cricket Kenya chairperson Jackie Jonmohammed said, the tournament which is being hosted in Kenya for the first time, is a great opportunity for Kenya and Africa to promote the sport of cricket. 

She encouraged the people of Nairobi to come out in droves to the grounds and support their boys. All games will start at 9:30 am at Nairobi Gymkhana and Jaffreys Sports Club. The 50 overs qualifiers will be played in double round-robin format. 

The winner of the tournament will join Namibia, who got automatic qualification for the New Zealand event for ranking highest in 2016 World Cup, to represent Africa.

The ICC Africa Under 19 qualifiers are organized by the ICC Africa Regional Office for teams from the continent.
