In a bid to search for more cricket talent in the county of Nairobi, Cricket Kenya will hold its daylong Nairobi Mini Cricket Festival at Ruaraka Sports Club on Saturday, 29th March, 2014 beginning at 9am.

The event will bring together 12 Primary Schools which are part of the Cricket Kenya Development Program that among other things are involved in coaching the game to pupils in various primary schools in the country.

“All is set for the event which is aimed at spotting talented teenage cricketers and grooming them,” CK Development Director Kalpesh Solanki said.

This is the third mini cricket show this year after two successful ones at the Coast and Nakuru. The event will involve both boys and girls aged between 12 and 15 years.

Solanki said the event will give talented young players from Nairobi an opportunity to showcase their talent, get identified at the grassroots level and be groomed to play in the age group teams in the future.

Among the schools that will be taking part in the event are regular contenders Karura Forest Primary, Martin Luther Primary, Roysambu Primary, City Primary and Highridge Primary.

“We believe that Kenya has great talent in sports. Some of the best sportsmen have come from the most unassuming places, and it is our endeavour to give this talent a platform with robust grassroots initiatives like this one,” Solanki said.
