Nanderema continue with their dominance in Busia

Nanderema Primary School beat Nabutuki Primary and Rumbiye Primary to retain both boys and girls titles of Cricket Kenya-Busia Mini Cricket tournament at Nandereka Primary School on Tuesday.

Nanderema who had won the inaugural tournament in April made it two out of two by beating Nabutuki by 21 in the boy’s final and Rumbiye by 5 wickets to win the girls title.

Twelve schools took part in the one day tournament.

After electing to bat, Nanderema boys side made 75 runs for the loss of nine wickets with Evans Bwire making 31 not out.

Bwire was adjudged the best player put on a third wicket stand of 32 with Tedius Mugele (18) that got the scores to 52 inside six overs.

Mark Ouma and Antony Omondi made 18 and 21 respectively for their side in their pursuit for 76 but after their dismissal it all over for Nabutuki as they only made 54 runs.
Victor Bwire and Noah Wafula picked two wickets each.

In the girl’s category, Linet Nafula and Hellen Malenya scored 21 and 18 runs respectively to steer Nanderema girl’s side to a comfortable five wickets win over Rumbiye.

After dismissing their opponents for 52, the two right handers smacked the ball with so much ease to see their side home with five balls to spare.

Rael Nyogesa and Susan Ajiambo were the main destroyer in Rumbiye’s inning with three wickets each.

Bukhulungu Primary finished third in the boys category while Nabutuki Primary girl’s side were third among girls side.
