Position - National Men's Head Coach

Cricket Kenya is the governing body for the sport of cricket at both performance and participation levels throughout Kenya, representing both the men’s and women’s game.

We are seeking to recruit a full-time National Men’s Head Coach initially on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon the team’s performance who will help us achieve our objective of moving the game forward and ensuring that we compete on the world stage.


  • The National coach will be responsible for developing a world class Kenya cricket team which delivers consistent success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers.


  • The National coach will have responsibility for the performance and management of the Kenya Men’s national team and ‘A’ team and assist with the development of the national age group squads.


  • The National coach will design and implement a complete performance for the national team encompassing all commitments (training, touring and all competitive fixtures as well as recovery periods.


  • Design and implement individual training programs for all national squad members to ensure the overall technical, tactical and mental development of the team and individual players.


  • Provide a National coach budget annually in conjunction with the General Manager ensuring figures align with Cricket Kenya’s financial and budgetary requirements and constraints.


  • Work closely with the General Manager and other staff in the implementation of the High Performance Program element of Cricket Kenya strategic plan


  • The National coach will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining and enforcing the disciplinary codes within the Kenya Men’s team


  • The National coach will be an accomplished strategist with clear and ambitious plans for how he will develop and build further success for Kenya Men’s team moving forward. He will need to demonstrate that he can create a winning culture in all forms of the game.


  • The National coach will be an outstanding communicator and people-manager, who can deal with tough, contentious and confrontational situations .His focus will be on managing competitive, highly skilled and self-reliant Kenya senior teams and an elite performance environment that demands exceptional standards of professionalism.


  • The National coach will need to demonstrate great planning and organizational strengths and will be responsible for setting out and then executing short, medium and long term plans for the development of Kenya teams. Central to these will be the ability to manage the playing and coaching resources at their disposal to the greatest effect.


  • The National coach will also be required to provide a road map on how he can develop and improve the existing talent, technically and tactically, whilst identifying and integrating new talent into a team culture that is both challenging and supportive.


  • The National coach must demonstrate an innovative approach and a commitment to being at the fore front of the latest developments in cricket in general and elite coaching specifically


  • The National coach will need to build a close working relationships with the performance support staff (team operations manager, assistant coach, strength and conditioning coach, and consultant physiotherapist) and Cricket Kenya administration staff



  • Coached for a minimum of 5 years at first class level


  • Hold a minimum of level three coaching


  • Good communicator and motivator who can get the best out of the players


  • Successful record in high performance planning and monitoring, as well as designing and implementing player development programs in elite environments


  • A degree (or equivalent) in sports, sports science or coaching is desirable but not mandatory
